About facilities support contracting in the U.S.

Facilities support (NAICS 561210) in the U.S. covers combined operations and maintenance: base operations support, building O&M, and integrated facilities services at military installations, VA campuses, and civilian agencies such as NASA and the Department of Energy.

These are often larger, multi-year contracts that bundle maintenance, custodial, grounds and minor repair, so teaming and subcontracting are common, and small businesses often win the smaller task orders or subcontract to a prime. Most of these are service contracts covered by the Service Contract Act, so bids must meet the wage determination attached to the notice for the county where the work is performed.

Watch for sources-sought notices, which signal an upcoming recompete and let you shape the set-aside decision before the solicitation posts.
